Microsoft has issued a critical alert after discovering active cyberattacks targeting on-premises SharePoint servers through a zero-day vulnerability. Threat actors are exploiting the flaw to gain unauthorized access and escalate privileges within enterprise networks. With SharePoint widely used across retail back offices, the compromise poses serious risks to sensitive data and operational continuity. Experts urge immediate patching and enhanced monitoring to mitigate exposure.
U.S. retail sales surged past expectations in July, driven by strong consumer spending in select categories like health and personal care. However, the growth masked stark disparities, with sectors like electronics and furniture seeing continued declines. Analysts say inflation-weary shoppers are prioritizing essentials while cutting discretionary purchases. The divergence underscores a shifting consumer mindset that could redefine retail strategies heading into Q4.
Retail executives say 2025's wave of tariffs is emerging as the single biggest disruptor to operations, supply chains, and pricing strategy. Brands are already facing margin compression and inventory delays, with some warning of increased prices for consumers by Q3. The uncertainty has triggered renewed calls for nearshoring and greater sourcing diversification. As tensions rise, retailers are walking a tightrope between cost control and consumer trust.
Retail is undergoing a rapid tech evolution, with AI, robotics, and unified commerce transforming everything from inventory management to guest experiences. Forward-thinking retailers are leveraging machine learning to forecast demand, while robots take on backroom tasks and fulfillment. Unified commerce strategies are bridging online and in-store data, creating seamless customer journeys and operational visibility. The pace of innovation is no longer optional—it’s the price of staying competitive.
Organized retail crime is costing American families over $500 a year as transnational criminal networks escalate theft operations across stores, supply chains, and e-commerce. These sophisticated rings, often linked to cartels and global crime groups, are responsible for billions in cargo and retail theft annually, driving up prices and overwhelming local law enforcement. The scale and coordination of these crimes have prompted lawmakers to push for tougher penalties, better data sharing, and a more unified national response.

Locked Cases Ignite Nationwide Frustration: Are Anti-Theft Measures Creating a New Kind of Loss?
