1 killed in shooting inside Ferguson Home Depot, suspect in custody

Employees and investigators quickly identified a suspect and vehicle wanted in connection with the shooting, Doyle said.

 

Officers found the car in Spanish Lake and took the suspect into custody. Two weapons were recovered after the suspect was taken into custody.

 

There is no ongoing danger to the community, and investigators believe both the suspect and the victim were armed at the time of the shooting, Doyle said.

 

"Chief Doyle emphasized that this was not a mass shooting nor a random act of violence targeting customers," a department press release said.

 

"The motive behind the confrontation remains under investigation."

California Workplace Surveillance Bill

The bill prohibits employers from using surveillance tools to monitor employees in areas like bathrooms, locker rooms, breakrooms, and other private, off-duty spaces. 

  • Restrictions on Monitoring During Off-Duty Hours:

The bill also restricts the use of surveillance tools during off-duty hours, including rest and break periods, and in areas like residences, personal vehicles, or property owned by the employee. 

  • Conditions for Video Surveillance:

If video surveillance is used, the bill specifies conditions such as the use of video cameras that do not record audio, the posting of signage notifying employees of surveillance, and the prohibition of AI or other digital monitoring capacity. 

  • Exceptions to Monitoring Restrictions:

There are exceptions, such as when a worker requests video surveillance of a specific area and the employer only reviews the footage for that request, or when law enforcement or a court requests the footage. 

  • Disabling Surveillance Tools:

The bill requires that workplace surveillance tools be disabled during off-duty hours. 

  • Employer Penalties:

Violations of the bill could result in civil penalties. 

  • Employee Rights:

The bill provides employees with the right to disable or leave behind surveillance tools on their person or in their possession during off-duty hours.

Protestors rallied on Tuesday at Sam’s Club in Southfield to speak out against Walmart’s choice to end its diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, programs.

 

A group of activists stood outside the store entrance hoisting signs and voicing chants. They talked to shoppers and asked them to support other stores that stand for “fairness and equality.”

 

Sam’s Club is a chain of membership-only warehouse club retail stores in the United States owned by Walmart.

Vietnam cracks down on fakes: Nike, Adidas knockoffs seized

In the wake of pressure by the US Government, Vietnam has launched a crackdown on counterfeit fashion and lifestyle products, impacting the retailers.

 

With the crackdown, the products that came into light included the fake copies of Nike, North Face, and Lacoste, among others. Although, these products were made in China but were stamped ‘Made in Vietnam’ to make them seem genuine.

 

Among the main targets was the capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi and one of the shopkeepers in Hanoi’s Old Quarter alleged that the buyers had a full awareness about the fake products and knew what they were purchasing.

'I'm gonna gouge out your eyes': Queen Anne small business owner recalls brutal assault

A sunny Sunday afternoon in Seattle, all set with a pop-up art market at the bottom of the Queen Anne counterbalance, came to an abrupt and chaotic end when a man who seemed to be in the a psychotic episode attacked a local small business owner.

 

Jennafah Singer told KOMO News the man suddenly had her fighting for her life.

 

She said the man told her he was going to gouge her eyes out - and then he certainly tried.
